Tweed Supporters' Responses

“I am just calling to say what a great job you guys are doing marketing Tweed airport.  We live in Branford…lived here for 20 something years and it is really good to see you out there making it happen.  It is a great airport, so convenient for everyone and on and on it goes, so good job to you guys”.

Bob Buchanan, Branford Resident

I use Tweed Airport 5-6 times per year - mostly to travel to scientific conferences. It is very convenient for travel within the US, check-in is a breeze and the parking is perfect. I dread trips out of any of the NY airports as the trip to the airport is exhausting (the various so called 'limo' services are awful, the trains only go to Newark and leaving a car at the airport costs a fortune) plus the long lines at check-in are very tiring, especially when I'm taking my family on vacation. Last year I took them all to CO flying out of Tweed via Phil - it was so much easier than NY or even Bradley - plus again the parking was free.
It would be great if I could fly to airports other than Phil such as NY.

I try to fly out of Tweed whenever possible. It is becoming increasingly difficult When United had service to Dulles and Chicago I flew one stop to London, Paris and Honolulu. It's my sense that with all of the congestion on 1-95, particularly in Fairfield county, having a regional airport in New Haven would reduce congestion and make peoples' lives more pleasant. The economic benefits don't need any embellishment. Were it easier to get to the greater New Haven area, I'm confident that the economy would prosper. That is well documented.   I think that Westchester and Manchester provide good examples of how a moderate sized regional airport can work.

I will not be able to attend both events, but I do believe in saving Tweed as I use it for most of my business travels. If you need another company name to place on a list - add Soundings and Woodshop News publications.

I hope that the meetings next week are productive. Please convey my support for growing Tweed New Haven Airport as a vital part of business and consumer commerce. I travel a few times a month on business and my first choice is always Tweed, but more often than not, I can't arrange it due to the timing of having to go through Phil, or just the cost. If more airlines could be brought in, with more destinations offered, this could produce more revenue for the area and more jobs as well.

My business travel has been a pleasure out of Tweed. Whenever I could travel out of Tweed, it made my travel day relaxing, while getting to my destination on time.
Departures and arrivals; no matter what the time, were moments away from home.   Please do all you can to expand Tweed and make it our main airport for New Haven for personal and business travel.

I write to support appropriate development for Tweed New Haven Airport. As a resident of Fairfield County, I find the trip to LGA, JFK or EWR to be excessively time-consuming and burdensome. Even HPN, which used to be a great convenience, is now advertising for people to park elsewhere (implicit message: unless you live in the immediate area, stay away!). The ongoing resistance from Stratford will not allow even safety improvements at BDR, much less the resumption of long-gone commercial service. While BDL is a great facility, it too necessitates a long commute for residents of our area.

Bottom line: southern Connecticut greatly needs a facility like HVN, conveniently situated along I-95 and the shoreline corridor. Suggestion: Extending Metro North Service to HVN would generate a great deal of usage from Fairfield County and help to relieve the current difficulties inherent in using the "big three" metro airports.
