Runway Safety Area

Preliminary Construction Schedule

MONTH NO. 1

1.       Contractor mobilization.

2.      Construction of temporary bridge over Morris Creek at abandoned bridge abutments for old Uriah Street.

3.      Clear and grub peat dewatering area at south end of airport near Roses Farm Road.

4.      Cut Phragmites in Runway 02 end safety area.

5.      Install soil sedimentation and erosion control structures.

6.      Install wellpoint dewatering system, including sheet piling, in Runway 02 safety area.

MONTH NO. 2

1.       Continue installation/operation of dewatering system.

2.      Commence excavation of peat/clay in Runway 02 safety area.

3.      Construct temporary access road to wetlands mitigation areas west of Runway 2-20 and east of Taxiway B.

4.      Commence excavation of wetlands mitigation finger channels and install headwalls and check valves along Morris Creek west of Runway 2-20.

5.      Commence excavation of wetlands mitigation finger channels east of Taxiway B.

6.      Commence excavation of new channel bed for re-aligned Morris Creek west of Runway 2-20.

MONTH NO. 3

1.      Continue installation/operation of dewatering system.

2.      Continue excavation of peat/clay in Runway 02 safety area.

3.      Commence mixing excavated clay materials with cement kiln dust and install in excavated area in Runway 02 safety area.

4.      Continue excavation of new channel bed for re-aligned Morris Creek west of Runway 2-20.

MONTH NO. 4

1.      Continue operation of dewatering system.

2.      Continue excavation of peat/clay in Runway 02 safety area.

3.      Continue mixing excavated clay materials with cement kiln dust and install in excavated area in Runway 02 safety area.

4.      Continue excavation of new channel bed for re-aligned Morris Creek west of Runway 2-20.

5.      Install borrowed fill materials in Runway 02 safety area.

6.      Commence construction of new MALSF lighting system on Runway 02 end.

7.      Commence repair and replacement of tide gates.

MONTH NO. 5

1.       Continue operation of dewatering system.

2.      Continue excavation of peat/clay in Runway 02 safety area.

3.      Continue mixing excavated clay materials with cement kiln dust and install in excavated area in Runway 02 safety area.

4.      Complete excavation of new channel bed for re-aligned Morris Creek west of Runway 2-20.

5.      Fill in old channel area of Morris Creek.

6.      Continue installation of borrowed fill in Runway 02 safety area.

7.      Continue installation of MALSF lighting system on Runway 02 end.

8.      Continue repair and replacement of tide gates.

MONTH NO. 6

1.      Continue operation of dewatering system.

2.      Continue installation of borrowed fill in Runway 02 safety area.

3.      Continue repair and replacement of tide gates.

MONTH NO. 7

1.      Removal of dewatering system in Runway 02 safety area.

2.      Commence topsoil and seeding of Runway 02 safety area.

3.      Continue repair and replacement of tide gates.

MONTH NO. 8

1.      Continue topsoil and seeding of Runway 02 safety area.

2.      Commence restoration of peat dewatering area.

3.      Spray Phragmites in wetlands mitigation areas.

4.      Continue repair and replacement of tide gates.

MONTH NO. 9

1.      Remove temporary bridge.

2.      Continue restoration of peat dewatering area.

3.      Cut Phragmites in wetlands mitigation areas.

4.      Remove temporary access road to mitigation areas.

5.      Continue repair and replacement of tide gates.

MONTH NO. 10

1.      Continue repair and replacement of tide gates.

MONTH NO. 11

1.      Topsoil, seed and restore tide gate area.

2.      Install chain link fence at tide gates.
